Wills
Everyone NEEDS a
Last Will and Testament so you can decide WHO gets your assets
after you die. A Will also allows you to appoint a person you
trust and can rely on to be your Executor/Executrix. This person
is the one who oversees how your home, belongings and other
assets are distributed. This person is the "enforcer" of your
wishes and works with an Attorney to see that your Estate is
properly "probated" and settled.
Your Will is also the instrument you use to determine who cares
for your minor children and their money if you die. You can
appoint a trusted family member or friend to become the guardian
of your child until they become an adult. You can have separate
people care for your child and another person to care for the
child's money and expenses. Don't leave this up to chance; make
sure your children are properly cared for and are raised the way
you intended. [TOP]
Power of
Attorney
Have you thought
about who would handle your business if you become disabled,
impaired or seriously injured? Someone has to have the power to
pay your bills, deposit your checks and manage your property if
you are not able to do it yourself. You need a DURABLE POWER OF
ATTORNEY. This is a simple document that we draft for you to
appoint someone you trust to manage all of your business
affairs, pay your bills, deposit your checks and the like. This
document is "durable" in that it survives your incapacity. It is
valid even when you are incapable of making your own business
and financial decisions. This Power of Attorney dies with you,
however, and is void upon your death.

Health
Care Documents
There are two
vital health care documents everyone needs; a Living Will and a
Health Care Proxy. The Living Will is the document that allows
you to state your intentions regarding end of life treatments
and the level of "heroic" efforts you wish. This is the document
that lets you determine what aggressive efforts are to be made
if you should become terminally ill. It also is the document you
use to state your desires to die at home, in a hospice, etc. The
Health Care Proxy is the document that sets out the person or
persons you want to make all your medical decisions, should you
become incapable of deciding for yourself. It also reiterates
the level of treatments and interventions you desire should you
become unable to make those decisions. This is also the document
that allows you to donate your organs for transplant, research
or educational purposes. This is your document and we have a
"boilerplate", but we can tailor it to your wishes and needs.
This document also allows your "agent" to be with you in the
Intensive Care Unit and to obtain all of your medical
information, which they would otherwise not have access to due
to the Federal HIPPA laws. Everyone needs these documents to be
sure their wishes are carried out and that you are not
needlessly kept in a vegetative state if you don't want to be.
